  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter.
  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  4. Roll the dough out on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Cut the dough into squares or circles.
Cooking
  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Fry the beignets in batches until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side.
  3. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Dust with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

These beignets are best served fresh and warm. Pair them with coffee or tea for a delightful experience. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 1-2 days and reheated in the oven.
