Ingredients
  

For the cookie dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use room temperature for easier blending.
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs For egg substitutes, use unsweetened applesauce or flaxseed egg.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour Can be substituted with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Feel free to experiment with different types of chocolate.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips, making sure they are evenly distributed.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  2. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

These cookies are best served warm with milk or tea. They make a delightful addition to dessert tables, cookie exchanges, and parties. To keep them fresh, store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze with parchment paper between layers.
