- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and warm milk together.
- Add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
- Gradually add in the softened butter and knead the dough until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
- Place the loaf in a greased bread pan, cover, and let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brush the top with egg wash and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing.
Notes
This brioche can be served warm or at room temperature, and is delicious with butter or jam. It can also be used for French toast or bread pudding. Store in an airtight container for up to three days or freeze for up to three months.
