Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 2.5 cups bread flour, sifted (or all-purpose flour for a lighter crust)
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon instant dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon warm water about 110°F (43°C) to activate yeast
  • olive oil for greasing

Method

Making the Dough
  1. Place the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a bowl of a standing mixer, and mix until combined.
  2. Attach the dough hook to the mixer. Gradually add the warm water to the flour mixture and mix on low speed until the dough comes together, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Continue mixing on low-medium speed for an additional 7 minutes until the dough is smooth, elastic, and pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Add flour if sticky or more water if dry.
  4. Transfer the dough to a large bowl brushed with olive oil, tossing to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Alternatively, refrigerate the dough overnight or for up to 24 hours. If refrigerating, allow it to come to room temperature for 30-60 minutes before using.
  6. Once the dough has risen, gently punch it to remove some air, and it’s ready to be shaped.
Baking the Pizza
  1. Stretch the dough to your desired thickness and top with your favorite ingredients.
  2. Bake in a preheated oven at 475°F (245°C) for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and crispy. Serve hot.

Notes

Wrap leftover dough tightly in plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before using.
