Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 1 1/3 cups bread flour (or plain/all-purpose flour)
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp olive oil (or any other oil)
  • 1/2 cup cold tap water
  • 1 tbsp extra flour (for dusting)
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil (optional for brushing the crust)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 250°C / 480°F (230°C fan) and place the shelf in the top quarter of the oven.
  2. Lightly spray your pizza pan or baking tray with oil.
  3. Prepare your pizza sauce and toppings while the oven preheats. If you’re using shredded mozzarella, keep it in the fridge to stay fresh.
  4. If you’re using a food processor, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, olive oil, and water, and blend for 40 seconds until the dough forms.
  5. If you’re kneading by hand, mix the dry ingredients and slowly add the liquid. Knead the dough for about 3 minutes until it’s smooth.
  6. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness.
Baking
  1. Top your pizza with the prepared sauce, mozzarella, and any other toppings you fancy.
  2. Bake in the oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crispy.
Serving
  1. Once your pizza is done baking, slice it up and serve it hot! It pairs wonderfully with a side salad or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Make sure to properly measure your flour for the best texture. Use the spoon-and-level method for accuracy. Feel free to experiment with different types of flour for varying flavors and textures. To achieve a crispier crust, pre-bake the dough for 5-7 minutes before adding the toppings.
