  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened Ensure butter is softened for better texture.
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Can be substituted with almond extract for a different flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture, and mix until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about two inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  2. Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

These cookies are delightful as they are, but can be dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with chocolate for extra special touch. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
