Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour For the dough
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt To enhance flavor
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed Ensure butter is very cold for a flaky crust
  • 0.25 cup cold water To bind the dough
Filling Ingredients
  • 1 cup cooked and seasoned meat (chicken, beef, or vegetables) Use your preferred filling
  • 1 each egg (for egg wash) Beaten, for brushing on top

Method
 

Dough Preparation
  1. In a bowl, mix the flour and salt together.
  2. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add the cold water, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Divide the dough into small balls and refrigerate them for 30 minutes.
Baking Empanadas
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out each ball on a floured surface.
  3. Fill it with your chosen filling, then fold and seal each empanada.
  4. Brush the top of each empanada with the beaten egg.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until they turn golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm, ideally with salsa, guacamole, or a fresh salad. To enhance, try various fillings and don't overfill the empanadas to prevent bursting.
