Dough Preparation
- In a bowl, mix the flour and salt together.
- Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add the cold water, mixing until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into small balls and refrigerate them for 30 minutes.
Baking Empanadas
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out each ball on a floured surface.
- Fill it with your chosen filling, then fold and seal each empanada.
- Brush the top of each empanada with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
Notes
Serve warm, ideally with salsa, guacamole, or a fresh salad. To enhance, try various fillings and don't overfill the empanadas to prevent bursting.
