Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
  2. Gradually add warm water and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Punch down the dough, divide it into 12 equal pieces, and shape them into rolls.
  3. Place the rolls on a baking sheet and cover with a cloth; let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and crusty.
  5. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

These rolls pair well with soups, salads, or any main dish. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage. For a crusty exterior, place a pan of hot water in the oven while baking.
