  • 3 lbs russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1.5 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the heavy cream and milk.
Layering and Baking
  1. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish.
  2. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle with half of the cheeses.
  3. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses.
  4. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  5. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 30-40 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden and bubbly.
  6. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For an extra touch, sprinkle fresh parsley or chives on top before serving. Use a mandoline slicer for even potato slices and season each layer with salt and pepper. For added flavor, consider minced garlic or nutmeg in the cream mixture.
