  • 4 cups mashed potatoes Leftover mashed potatoes work great.
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice) Experiment with different cheese types!
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter Preferably unsalted.
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Garnish
  • to taste Chopped chives Optional garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, sour cream, shredded cheese, milk, and butter. Mix until well blended and creamy.
  3. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and smooth the top.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
Serving
  1. Garnish with chopped chives before serving. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For extra flavor, add minced garlic or herbs. For crunch, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top before baking. Consider adding cooked bacon bits, sautéed onions, or steamed broccoli for variations. Can use instant mashed potatoes if preferred.
