Ingredients
  

For the meat layer
  • 1 lb Ground beef Well-seasoned
  • 1/3 cup Bread crumbs
  • 1/2 Large onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust to preference
For the topping
  • 2 cups Mashed potatoes Store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese Can substitute with other cheeses

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, BBQ sauce, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.
Assembly
  1. In a greased baking dish, press the meat mixture into the bottom to form a layer.
  2. Spread the mashed potatoes over the meat layer, smoothing it out evenly.
  3. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of the mashed potatoes.
Cooking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly.
  2. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Pairs well with a fresh garden salad or steamed vegetables. Add BBQ sauce on the side for dipping. Cut into squares for easy serving. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
