Method
Preparation
- In a bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes bubbly.
- In another large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and salt together.
- Add the warm milk and the yeast mixture to the flour mixture. Knead until a dough forms.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, which takes around 1 hour.
Layering
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Fold the edges toward the center and chill in the refrigerator.
- Roll, fold, and chill the dough several times to create those beautiful layers.
Shaping and Baking
- Cut the dough into triangles and roll them toward the tip to shape the croissants.
- Place the croissants on a baking sheet and let them rise until fluffy.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) until golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.
Notes
Serve your freshly baked croissants warm, straight out of the oven. They are delightful on their own, but you can also enjoy them with butter, jam, or even a slice of cheese. Pair them with your favorite coffee or tea for a perfect start to your day! If you have any leftover croissants, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. For longer storage, you can freeze them in a freezer-safe bag. Just warm them up in the oven when you’re ready to enjoy.
