Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine the sourdough starter, warm water, and olive oil. Stir until well mixed.
- Add the flour, minced garlic, salt, and herbs (if using) to the mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 2-3 hours or until doubled in size.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Punch down the risen dough and spread it out on a greased baking sheet.
- Use your fingers to create dimples across the surface of the dough, then sprinkle the cheese over the top.
- Let the dough rest for another 30 minutes before baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm.
Notes
To store, place in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Freeze for longer storage, thaw and reheat before serving. For added flavor, drizzle olive oil and sprinkle herbs before serving.
