  • 1 cup sugar Granulated sugar.
  • 1/2 cup butter At room temperature.
  • 2 pieces eggs Large eggs.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk Whole or 2% milk.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Gradually stir in the flour and milk until the batter is smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature. Great with powdered sugar, whipped cream, or fresh fruit. Store in an airtight container. Use room temperature butter for easier creaming. Consider adding vanilla extract for flavor or reducing milk for a denser cake. Try adding chocolate chips, nuts, or citrus zest for variations.
